Emmerson :: 4 months

Its been a super busy month around here...hense the late late 4 month post.  Emmerson  has been growing like a weed and is so busy...my gosh she is busy.  I still have NO idea how a 4 month old, who isn't crawling yet can keep a mom so busy.  Good lord, when she starts moving...

This month has brought a lot of change to our little family.  We sold our little 2 bedroom condo and 2 weeks later we were packed up and on the move...to my parents HA.  All in good hopes of saving some money and moving on to bigger and better things. Its been an emotional month...my lovely little condo where we became a family...is no longer mine.  And it sure isn't easy swallowing your pride and moving in with the parents.  But we have a goal and will try to stay focussed.  On a positive note...we have a granny nanny hehe.

This month I have really noticed how much Emmerson is growing.  She's this little person now, who can pretty much control a room hehe.  It's hard to believe that she was once a wee little baby and that was ONLY 4 months ago.  She has PERSONALITY... we can make her laugh...ohh her laugh...her smile, it melts me.  She reaches for me and it drives me wild....those long sleepless nights are suddenly all worth it...she reaches for ME!!  It's one of the most fufilling feelings in this whole intire world...when your child reaches for you. 

It's been  4 months and Emmerson...
1. Prefers to sit or stand...while we hold her of course. 
2. Grabs everything in sight and shoves it in her mouth. 
3. Fits into her jolly jumper and is learning to jump.
4. Has started playing strange...mostly to older men.
5. Has WILD hair...ohhh her hair...Yup it's growing too...STRAIGHT UP!
6. Can role right over... all the way...over and over and over...

oh ya and shes had her first easter....notice the easter dress...thanks OMA & OPA.

rogers family :: EXPECTING

It was one of those crazy "okanagan" days.  We saw Wind, Hail, Snow, Rain...and of course when the photo shoot was over SUN!  But we struggled through the cold and got some shots of my Brothers family expecting their 2nd child.  That's Niece or Nephew # 2 for Moi and I can not wait to see what comes....plus i have a box of girl cloths that need a good home :) 

If you remember from previous posts its no surprise that Mr. Linden HATES photo shoots..haha poor boy. So this time around it was a Timbit bribe instead of stickers.  I made the mistake of letting him know about the timbits when we first started. SOOO after I had taken only ONE picture Linden shouts out It's Timbit TIME!!!  What a little smarty pants.

Emmerson ~ 3 Months

IT's been a busy month! It's been a month of discovery for little Emmerson!

I read in a book...and why no one told me is BEYOND me, that some babies need to learn how to sleep.  Meaning they wont just fall asleep when they are tired...like I assumed, but we have to teach them.  Holy LIGHT BULB.  And let me tell you, it has made life SOOO much easier.  we're talkin 2 hour naps!  The only catch....she wont let me put her down, I've tried it doesn't work. So no crafting yet but I'm enjoying the time i get to hold her. 

It has been a really wonderful month.  She has changed so much and is learning...boy is she learning.  It's really amazing watching a baby learn that they can reach out their hands and touch things.  Her concentration is astouning.   It is truly one of the greatest joys. 

Emmerson at 3 months...
1. Has discovered that she has a tongue.  She would sit with it hanging out of her mouth.  Then she started darting it in and out like a lizard. 
2. Has found her hands.  Watching her concentrate as she learns what her hands can do is amazing.  She reaches for things and tries sooo hard to open her fingers to grab anything she can.  In the end her hands end up in her mouth :)
3. Can giggle. We've heard it only a handful of times and its the greatest sound on EARTH!
4. Weighs about 13 pounds...holy smokes!
5. Took her first trip to Vancouver. 
                      We were sooo super nervous about our first trip.  Emmerson has been a little screamer in the car seat.  But it was important to try as it was our friends 30th BDay party.  Our goal...Princeton, assess the situation and decide...keep going or turn around and head for home. 
Well, we pack the house (haha) filled her up and just in time for her first nap we hit the road.  She whined as we drove through town and was asleep in a half an hour.  We made it to Princeton and she was still asleep, so the BIG decision....Do we stop or keep going?  Well the next stop was about 45 min away soooo we kept going.  We made it too our next stop and she was  STILL asleep...do we take our chances.  YUP we kept going! We made it all the way to Hope, about 3 hours from home without a peep and thanked our lucky stars! BUT we knew it wouldn't be the same on the way Home. AND WE WERE RIGHT. She SCREAMED the Whole Way HOME.
But all in all it was a successful trip.  Emmerson was great.  Slept great and was a true party animal.

Emmerson + Humphrey

The plan is to take a photo of Emmerson with Humphrey (the Monkey) each month to track her growth.  I know you've seen it before, the baby and calendar, I wanted to do something a little different.  And i knew it had to involve Humphrey.

The story of Humphrey is a short one.  You see, Humphrey came to us from Emmersons GREAT Grandma...she bought him when Emmerson was just born.  Your probably thinking it was his hansom good looks and WINNING smile that won her over, though that probably had a little to do with it, but it was actually the name....HUMPHREY is Great Grandmas Last name. So really he just had to become part of the family.

When i took that first picture of Humphrey and Emmerson together...it was MAGIC...

I knew then and there...i had to shoot humphrey and emmerson every month.

AND....it was only a matter of time (3months) that there relationship grew stronger...I think it's safe to say that it's LOVE

Emmerson ~ 2 Months

Well here we are 2 Months already. If you read my last post you'll notice i said that time wasn't really flying by...well time is starting to FLY.  Emmerson is 2 months already and I feel like I've known her FOREVER. GOSH I love her!  Nights are getting better.  We're on to 4-5 hour stretches YAY!!!  And let me tell ya, after 5 straight hours of sleep I feel like I can run a marathon HA.
So needless to say things are getting easier.  I was getting a little worried that i would NEVER sleep again.  Not to mention the Hormones...OHHH the hormones. 
But here we are month 2 going on 3 and you learn A LOT.  The book THe Baby Whisperer has been a HUGE help and has got us on a routine where Emmerson is actually sleeping a bit during the day.  The month and a bit where she didn't nap was CRAZY, i couldn't leave her side!  But my sanity is returning and I'm feeling like myself again, but boy is this ride WILD.

Here's what I've learned about Emmerson this month. 
1. her greatest smiles happen around 7 am :)
2. i mentioned last post that she moans while she falls asleep. well this is still true and its the opposite when she's waking....thats right she GRUNTS when shes waking...loud long grunts like shes fighting a battle, ha.
3.  Emmerson LOVES being on the floor.  She stretches right out and kicks kicks kicks.  I think she might be a soccer player. 
4. It wont be long before she's in her jolly jumper...i think she's gonna love it.
5. A few weeks ago Emmerson rolled from her tummy to her back.  She lifts her head high and over she goes.  She's close to rolling from her back to her tummy.  SHE is SOOO strong.
6. She's starting to coo and make noises at you...yup we have full on conversations in baby :)
7. She's got her daddy rapped around her little finger...he's in love (which makes me love him more).
